29/11/19 How Much Exercise Should I Be Doing?

We like this Exercise Information Sheet from the PACE-UP trial at St George's Hospital. The programme is free access and there is a lot of useful information on starting and progressing a Walking Programme and general exercise advice available on it.

It is however very much focussed on walking as your main exercise and we generally advise that people do additional strengthening work as part of their fitness programme. This is usually tailored to the individual based on any symptoms, aches or pains that they might be experiencing and also their attitudes and approach to exercise in general. Strengthening exercise can include strengthening programmes in the gym but also activities such as aqua-aerobics; pilates, cycling and tai chi.
